Needless

Needless by Kami Imai is a manga ( 16 volumes so far) and anime ( 24 episodes) however I only saw the anime. Like always the manga sounds so much better and I think for all interested in Needless they should read the manga instead however Needless is on Netflix for those who have it. The cute drawing style was what first attracted my eye and after reading the summary I thought it could be interesting.
I have to admit I fell asleep on this anime and when I woke up the battle was still taking place leaving me completely bored. I lost interest in this anime not too far from the beginning however I thought I wasn't giving it a chance. Bottom line: I didn't fully enjoy it even after watching all 24 episodes.

Genres: Action, Sci-fi,

Summary:
This anime is set in the year 2130, 50 years after world war three. The war has left a crater where Tokyo once stood - a place now filled with contaminated rubble. This spot (called "The Black Spot") has no electrical power and is seen as a dark patch from outer space. The Black Spot eventually becomes populated by outcasts - some of whom, as a result of the contamination, gain various powers ("fragments"). Those in possession of such powers/fragments come to be known as "Needless".

Speed Grapher

Speed Grapher is an anime series created by Gonzo and was later made into a manga by Tomozo. To put it plainly, this anime was kind of boring. I thought it would have so much more going for it. The main character, Tatsumi Saiga (age unknown), was uninteresting and his "power" could have had more thought added to it like the other characters throughout the show.
Also his relationship with the female lead, Kagura Tennōzu (15 years old), left me feeling odd. He looked too old for her and it was a recurring theme throughout the episodes: their huge age difference.
So no, this will not be an anime or manga I will be looking into again in the future.

Genres:  Action, Drama, Romance, Sci-Fi

Summary:
Speed Grapher follows the exploits of former war photographer Tatsumi Saiga, who investigates a secret fetish club for the ultra-wealthy called the Roppongi Club. He tries to photograph the club's "goddess," a 15-year-old, exploited girl named Kagura, but is discovered. As he is about to be killed, Kagura kisses him, granting him the ability to destroy anything he photographs. Saiga soon discovers that Kagura's body fluids, like her saliva, in combination with a certain "virus", can give people bizarre abilities relating to their secret desires, fetishes, and obsessions. Club members strive for the honor of becoming "gifted" via Kagura's power. Saiga soon becomes entangled in this secret underground society and the powerful and corrupt Tennōzu Group mega-corporation that operates it. He attempts to free Kagura, a move that puts the two of them on the run from the Tennōzu Group and blood-thirsty members of the club with bizarre and often horrifying special powers.

Ah! My Goddess!

Ah! (Oh!) My Goddess! by Kosuke Fujishima first premiered in 1988 making it twenty four years old however it's a classic. On some levels this manga/anime reminds me of Clamps Wish which I have posted on this blog a while back. Seeing as this series came out first we know who began the idea, no harm to Clamp meant. Nevertheless, Ah! My Goddess has always owned a cozy spot in my heart.

Genres: Romance, Comedy, Adventure, Fantasy, Action

Summary:

Keiichi Morisato is a good-natured, yet hapless and girlfriend-less college sophomore who is often imposed upon by his elder dorm-mates and brow-beaten into taking phone messages and doing other chores for them. One day, while alone in his dorm, he accidentally calls the Goddess Technical Help Line and a beautiful goddess named Belldandy materializes in his room. She tells him that her agency has received a system request from him, so she has been sent to grant him a single wish. Skeptical and thinking someone is playing a practical joke on him, he wishes that she stay with him forever. To his surprise, his wish is granted.

Ai No Kusabi

Ai No Kusabi, written by Rieko Yoshihara, is one of the most popular yaoi mangas out there. If you believe yourself a yaoi fan all the way I hope you have at at least heard of it. Well, it was first serialized in Shousetsu June between 1986 - 1987 and released in a hardbound novel in Japan in the 90's.

Wikipedia:
"The novel was partially adapted into a two-episode original video animation by Anime International Company, with the first episode released in August 1992 and the second in May 1994. In November 1993, an audio drama entitled Erogenous Dark was released focusing on a time period left unexplored in the original novels. A new thirteen episode OVA adaptation, also from AIC, was scheduled to begin releasing in Japan in the spring of 2010, but was cancelled for financial reasons. The project was picked up again and is scheduled to release in January 2012.

The novel is licensed for an English language release in North America by Digital Manga Publishing which published the novel over a eight volume series, with the first released in November 2007 and the sixth in July 2009, with the final volumes scheduled for release in summer and winter of 2012, respectively."

Here's a little AMV I found to get me all hyped up for the remake however I'm sure it'll end just the same as the first one TT3TT (Just a small warning: this is Yaoi).

Setting

Ai no Kusabi takes place on the world of Amoi, which is ruled by a computer named Jupiter. Jupiter has introduced a number of strict social rules to society. Among them, social status is determined by hair color, blonde being the highest, down to black or dark brown as the lowest. The Blondies, genetically engineered by Jupiter, are the highest social class and occupy the capital city of Tanagura. They travel to the satellite pleasure city of Midas, which has an independent slum area called Ceres. Under Jupiter's restrictions, the Blondies are sterile and forbidden from indulging in sexual activities. They keep "pets" (adolescents in their late teens) for about a year, for purely voyeuristic purposes, before discarding them. Further emasculation is seen in the "Furniture", adolescent boys who serve the Blondies.

Contrary to popular belief, the hair-color caste system only applies to those working in Tanagura and not in Ceres. The true separation is between those genetically created in a lab (those in Tanagura) and the "mongrels" formed the natural way (those in Ceres). However it was written in the novel that Tanagura manipulated even the natural births of Ceres, ensuring that its population did not grow by restricting the number of female births to 1 in 10.

Summary:
Riki the Dark, a slum mongrel without an ID number, leader of the gang Bison and therefore considered the lowest of the low, one day meets Iason Mink, a Tanagura elite Blondie, the most powerful man in the city and Jupiter's favorite. Iason saves him from being killed by a gang and Riki tries to pay his debt by offering his body to Iason. Instead, Iason makes him his pet and takes him from the slums to live with him. Riki leaves his gang behind without an explanation.

Iason keeps Riki, who is bound to Iason with a penis ring, as his pet for three years. This causes a lot of rumors and commotion amongst the other Blondies. Not only is Riki considered too old to be a pet but he is a human mongrel, which is frowned upon. The other Blondies question Iason and his motives, yet Iason refuses to give up Riki whom he has grown very attached to. Iason's friend, Raoul, warns him that Jupiter does not approve of this relationship but Iason refuses to listen.

Riki hates his new position, having formerly been a proud leader, and begs Iason for his freedom. Iason grants him a year of freedom and allows him to go back to Ceres, the slums. Riki is welcomed back into Bison and returns to a normal life. He has changed, however, and is unable to forget the time he spent as Iason's pet.

(Spoiler alert )

When the year passes, Iason decides he wants Riki back. Through his former furniture Katze, who is now a black marketeer, Iason arranges for Kirie, a young member of Bison, to set a trap and catch the gang. This ends with Bison being arrested. Riki is freed and told to return to his master.

After Riki returns to Iason, he learns of the taboos Iason has broken to keep him and of how Iason has protected him from the fate of former pets which end up being sold to brothels. Iason even decides to grant Riki a bit of further freedom by allowing him to work with Katze in the black market.

Guy, Riki's best friend and former pairing partner from Bison, finds out about Riki's position as Iason's pet and becomes enraged. As a result, Guy decides to get Riki back from Iason. He kidnaps Riki to Dana Bahn. Riki tells Guy that he will never be free of Iason as long as he wears Iason's pet ring. Guy therefore removes Riki's pet ring by giving him a penectomy.

Guy contacts Iason and arranges to meet him in Dana Bahn. Iason, thinking Riki is in Dana Bahn because of the tracer in the pet ring, meets Guy there. Iason tries to get Riki back but finds out what Guy has done. After attacking him, Guy sets off bombs that he had planted in Dana Bahn with the intention of killing Iason to set Riki free. Riki appears to stop Iason from killing Guy and get them all out of Dana Bahn. Reluctantly Iason helps Guy and they head towards the exit.

As they approach the front gate, an explosion wrecks Dana Bahn. The gates collapse and slice Iason's legs off just above the knee. Riki is forced to leave him there while he takes Guy out of Dana Bahn. Riki sees Katze, who has been waiting outside after Riki contacted him, and tells him to help Guy while he returns to Iason.

Iason is surprised to see Riki come back, despite what he had done to him as a pet. Riki sits down next to Iason and offers him a poisonous Black Moon cigarette that Katze had given to him, and they both perish in Dana Bahn together, much to everyone's grief.

Pretear

Pretear (The new legend of Snow White) by Junichi Sato and illustrated by Kaori Naruse was the anime that introduced me back into Shoujo. I had gotten so far away from it in the past, annoyed with weak main characters that cried at the drop of a dime. Nowadays I don't mind them but I have to be in the mood. Himeno was great in the beginning but sure enough she to fell into the weak category, sadly. All in all the anime was good as far as Shoujo goes with me. I have never read the manga to the series.

P.S. To this day, if I hear the opening song to the anime I know all the words by heart lol.

Genres: Drama, Fantasy, Romance, Shoujo, Supernatural

Summary:

High school freshman Himeno has begun a new life with her father and new stepmother, but her world is more of a nightmare than a fairytale. That is, until she is crowned the Prétear by a group of handsome knights. But this is not a story of a damsel in distress! This princess is strong, stubborn, and she has a world to save!

Joker no kuni no Alice - Circus to usotsuki game /&/ Heart no Kuni no Alice

Joker no kuni no Alice - Circus to usotsuki game by Quinrose and Fujimaru Mamenosuke  looks like its going to awesome. A bad-ass Alice, maybe? ^^ I hope so~! So far I only see one chapter but I'll keep an eye on it.

Alice In Wonderland is one of many favorite classics and I love reading different versions of it. Like that game: American McGee's Alice and Alice: Madness Returns. I wish they would make a book or movie for the games, I would be the happiest person alive~

Genres: Fantasy, Josei, Romance

Summary:

One day, Alice Liddell is kidnapped by a hot guy with rabbit ears and transported into a strange new world! Oddly enough, this "white rabbit" acts as if he's enamored of Alice. As she enters the bizarre Kingdom of Hearts, Alice is certain that it is all a dream that she just can't seem to escape. When she asks various other denizens of the Kingdom of Hearts (mostly gorgeous men) how she can get home, they all tell her the same thing: There's no way for her to return home until the end of the "game" that has just started!

Picture and Summary found on Mangafox.com*

P.S. After looking more into the author I have noticed that she has two other Alice in Wonderland stories that seem to be the same - only drawn by a different artist. Since one is complete I will read that one: Heart no Kuni no Alice drawn by Hoshino Soumei. This too is on Mangafox.com.

Genres: Action, Comedy, Fantasy, Harem, Mystery, Psychological, Romance, Shoujo

Summary:

The girly but bloody otome game re-imagining of Lewis Carroll's classic fantasy novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland with bishounen characters and added romance.

A parody of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland where Alice is smart and non-doormatlike.

In this story, Alice is not all what she seems. She is practical, strong, yet darkly cynical. Instead of the traditional story, Alice is kidnapped unwillingly by a mysterious (yet somewhat bishie-looking) man with bunny ears into a place called Heartland. Stuck in Heartland due to a trick by the mysterious bunny eared man, she meets the residents of this world. Along the way, Alice meets Blood, handsome mafia leader; Ace, the psycho yet charming knight and more…What should Alice do in such a world!?

Honto Yajuu

Honto Yajuu (Like the beast) by Yamamoto Kotetsuko was too cute for words ^^ Just what I needed on a lazy day. The drawing style is adorable and just the idea of the "forbidden policeman - Yakuza" relationship taking place was funny. I can't wait for the next chapter~!

Genres: Comedy, Romance, Yaoi

Summary:

Ueda Tomoharu is a cop manning a local koban station, and he’s quite happy with his job and relatively quiet life until he happens to run into yakuza member Gotouda Aki while chasing down an underwear theif…and is suddenly confessed to! Aki doesn’t seem bothered in the least about their "star-crossed lovers" status and eagerly dives into a super lovey-dovey relationship with his policeman, but Ueda’s about to find out just how dangerous it can be dating a mobster…in more ways than one.

Hellsing

Hellsing by Kouta Hirano I never read nor watched. I know, its so sad! I was told it was great series and I was missing out. I love how not too soon afterward FUNimation posted two episodes up on youtube.com as if they agreed. So yes, "I will be watching".

Although, (Wiki)an original video animation titled Hellsing Ultimate is being produced by Geneon. It follows the manga storyline more closely than the anime series. The first episode was released in Japan on February 10, 2006, and as of February 2012, nine episodes have been released. The sixth OVA in the series was made available on both DVD and Blu-ray; episodes one through five are available in Japan as of October 22, 2010. The first episode was released in North America on December 5, 2006. As of August 2010, four episodes of the OVA have been released in North America. At Anime Expo 2010 Funimation Entertainment announced that they have licensed four of the new OVA episodes 5-7 but no release date has been set.

This reminds me of Fullmetal alchemist vs. Fullmetal alchemist: brotherhood. (which I should post up next...)

Genres: Action, Supernatural

Summary:

Hellsing is named after and centered around the Holy Order of Protestant Knights, originally led by Abraham Van Helsing. The mission of Hellsing is to search and destroy those that threaten the safety of the Queen and Country from the undead and other supernatural forces of evil. This organization is currently led by Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing, who inherited the leadership of Hellsing as a child after the death of her father. She witnessed his death which turned her from a once innocent and shy little girl to a tough and deadly force. She is protected by the faithful Hellsing family butler, a deadly foe in his own right, and former Hellsing "trashman," Walter C. Dornez, and Alucard, the original and most powerful vampire that swore loyalty to the Hellsing family after being defeated by Van Helsing one hundred years before the story takes place.

As the scale and frequency of incidents involving the undead escalate in England and all around the world, Sir Integra discovers that the remnants of a Nazi group called Millennium still exist and are intent on reviving the Third Reich by creating a battalion of vampires. Millennium, Hellsing, and the Vatican section XIII Iscariot clash in an apocalyptic three-sided war in London, and Millennium reveals its true objective: to destroy the vampire Alucard, ending a feud begun during World War II.

Dream Eater

Dream Eater (Saigo no Yume) by Kamata Kimiko was interesting. I loved it up until a point that told me this manga isn't going to be as "bright and happy" as I was lead to believe. It's fine though, I enjoy a dark manga as much as everyone else ^^ Can't wait for the next chapter~

Rabbit Doubt

Rabbit doubt (or Doubt) by Yoshiki Tonogai is a horror manga that might not be for everyone. I first read this manga years ago on Onemanga.com I believe. I was sitting on the edge of my sit waiting for the next chapter to come out only to see my guess as to who the killer is was wrong each and every time.

The manga was first serialized in Square Enix's Monthly Shōnen Gangan on July 12, 2007 and ended its run on February 12, 2009. Square Enix also released the first volume on December 22, 2007 and released the fourth and final volume on February 12, 2009. The series has continued with a sequel, titled Judge. (Wiki)

I have not read the sequel personally only because I didn't know there was one until now.

Genres: Mystery, Horror, Psychological, Thriller

Summary:

Doubt revolves around a fictional cell phone game called "Rabbit Doubt", in which the players are rabbits in a colony; one of these players is randomly chosen to act as a wolf infiltrating the group. Each round, the rabbits guess which is the wolf as the rabbits are eaten one-by-one until only the wolf is left.

In the story, four players of the "Rabbit Doubt" game Yū Aikawa, Eiji Hoshi, Haruka Akechi, Rei Hazama and a non-player Mitsuki Hōyama meet to relax together. They are knocked unconscious and awaken in an abandoned psychiatric hospital to meet Hajime Komaba and discover Rei hanged. The group find Rei's cell phone and realize that they're playing a real-life game of "Rabbit Doubt". To survive, the wolf, described as the liar, must die.

Ai Yori Aoshi

No, way;I remember this manga/anime~! I can't believe I found this on Funimation's channel on Youtube.com uploaded this ^^ I just wanted to share really quick because I haven't posted anything in a while.

Ai Yori Aoshi  is a Japanese seinen manga written and illustrated by Kou Fumizuki and serialized from 1998 to 2005 in Hakusensha's Young Animal. It is a love story between two characters who haven't seen each other in years but were once childhood friends. (Wkipedia.com)

Genres: Romance, Comedy, Drama, Harem

Summary:

Kaoru Hanabishi appears to be an average university student, but in reality, he's the eldest son of Yūji Hanabishi, the head of the Hanabishi Zaibatsu, and was set to take over the zaibatsu after his father retired. His mother, Kumi Honjō, and his father never married, making life difficult for both him and his mother. Kaoru's father died when he was five years old. Since then, Yūji's grandfather, Gen'ichiro Hanabishi, took Kaoru under his wing and began educating him for the eventual succession. Yet Kaoru never felt at home in the Hanabishi family and left to live alone in self-imposed exile after his mother died. Day by day he felt alone, thinking that he was living life with no reason pushing him on.
There was, however, a person who loved Kaoru so much that she had to do whatever was necessary to be with him.

Her name is Aoi Sakuraba. Aoi is the only daughter of the owner of the Sakuraba Kimono (Dry Goods in the manga) Store (later renamed to Sakuraba Department Store). Kaoru's family and Aoi's family had accepted for Kaoru to marry Aoi, but after Kaoru walked out, the marriage was canceled. Both families had a friendly relationship and Aoi had been in love with Kaoru from the start, which Kaoru was unaware of. The Sakuraba family had already been searching for someone suitable, but Aoi was unwilling to marry someone else and walked out, chasing Kaoru.

Both were freed from their families' affairs, but did not know how to make their living. Miyabi Kagurazaki, who had been looking out for Aoi, offered the two a way. Aoi and Miyabi would live together in a grand western style summer house owned by the Sakuraba family and Kaoru would live in a house for servants next to it. This would prevent a scandal, much like the one that had made Kaoru's life difficult, as the two would be living separately. But soon, Kaoru's friends, who just happen to be attractive females, took residence in the house, and it quickly became a dormitory. Very soon, Aoi became a landlady of the dormitory.

(Spoiler for some who haven't read/watched this manga/anime)

Kaoru eventually comes to terms with his painful past by confronting the Hanabishis. Later, Kaoru's half brother attempts to gain control of the Hanabishi Zaibatsu by marrying Aoi, but Kaoru meets her father who accepts Aoi's relationship with him, foiling his half-brother's plan. The series ends with Kaoru and Aoi having their long awaited wedding.

Inuyasha

Inuyasha by Rumiko Takahashi is one of the most popular anime/manga series I grew up with. With the combined elements of romance, comedy, and time travel it has good reason to be. However, the flip side is the annoying whining the lead female character: Kagome, does over the lead male character: Inuyasha. I would have been a hell of a story with Kagome as a strong woman - uh, teen... But even with that Inuyasha is remains one of the top Shoujo mangas/animes.

Inuyasha has also been made into four anime films: InuYasha the Movie: Affections Touching Across TimeInuYasha the Movie: The Castle Beyond the Looking GlassInuYasha the Movie: Swords of an Honorable Ruler, and InuYasha the Movie: Fire on the Mystic Island. I own all four and I would have to say The castle beyond the looking glass and Swords of an honorable ruler are my two favorites.

Genres: Adventure, Romance, Comedy, Shoujo, Supernatural

Summary:

Kagome Higurashi is a 15 year old schoolgirl who lives at a history-filled Japanese shrine. She is also the reincarnation of an ancient priestess named Kikyo, who guarded the sacred Shikon no Tama (Jewel of Four Souls), and who sealed away the half-demon Inuyasha who had tried to steal the jewel in order to become a full demon. Kikyo died of her wounds and had the jewel burned with her body. Kagome is one day pulled into the ancient well on her family's shrine and thrown into the past, 50 years after Kikyo's death. She befriends Kaede, the late Kikyo's sister, who realizes Kagome is Kikyo's reincarnation. They are attacked, and learn that Kagome has the Shikon no Tama, but it's actually inside her body! Kagome accidentally awakens the dog-demon Inuyasha, and frees him after the jewel has been ripped from her body. Now Inuyasha wants the jewel back, but Kagome can't let him have it. He is forced (by Kaede's magic) to wear a necklace that allows Kagome to control him with one word, "Sit!", which sends him face-first into the ground. Kagome accidentally shatters the jewel, and now she and Inuyasha have to work together to find all the pieces before they fall into the wrong hands. Only Kagome can "sense" where the shards are, and only Inuyasha is powerful enough to get them from the demons or people who have them. But can they stop fighting long enough to work together?

Webtoons

My general opinion of webtoons is pretty simple, I don't care for them. I have tried reading many; different genres and plots, but it doesn't matter. Whenever I read a "chapter" (which almost always consists of six long pages) I feel like a child was written it. There isn't really a plot, the author is trying too hard to be funny, and the characters are bland. To be blunt, I feel like it was waste of time to even try and read it.
That is just my opinion though and if anyone has found webtoons that are in fact interesting please let me know. I'm starting to feel that webtoons is a wasted "genre" on Mangafox.com.

Egoism

Egoism by Ryouwa Kasumi is one funny yaoi with a bit of drama thrown in the mix. It does seem like more drama will be coming soon, however, when is the question as it was released in 2002 and the status on mangafox.com remain to be "ongoing" even though it was dropped by all groups uploading it.
On a different note, I seem to be running into a lot of incomplete mangas lately, which sucks. I like knowing that when I pick up a book it will have an end already (like a novel). Manga are entirely different though so I'll just have to get over it like I did the last time. Be prepared for one-shots in the future.

Genres: Comedy, Drama, Yaoi

Summary

A popular series of very cool model/actor and his lover, a cold writer of stories for children.

Flowernoid No Shuufukushi

Flowernoid No Shuufukushi by Sakura Roku was pretty cute and kind of reminded me of Chobits with the idea of humanized robot however it was more clear in clamp's version who was a robot as far as behavior. Nevertheless, this manga was good but could have been taken to many different places and, who knows, maybe it will in the future. I read this manga on Mangafox.com.

Genres: Comedy, Romance, Shoujo

Summary:

Satsuki Kasumi is a girl has an extreme fear of people. Though she is like this, she is a repair man whose job is to help flowernoids, dolls that are designed to calm the human heart.
One day, she runs out of cup noodles and is forced to leave her home to buy more. On the side of the street, she finds a box with a label that says: "Please pick me up. My name is Sora." Opening the box expecting to see a cat, but it is instead a popular Flowernoid?! What will happen to her life together with a Flowernoid?

Tenchi Muyo!

Tenchi Muyo! by Masaki Kajishima and Hiroki Hayashi is an all time favorite, hands down. It brings back such great memories of when I used to watch this along with other shows on Toonami (which was sadly "killed" in 2008, however on Wikipeda.com it states: It is set to be revived starting on May 26, 2012 as part of Cartoon Network's Adult Swim block. Which means tomorrow! But this may all be completely wrong so  don't get your hopes up -_-).
If you have no idea what "Tenchi" is then you must have been living under a rock for some years.
WIKI:
The original series began with a six episode OVA called Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki released in Japan on September 25, 1992. The series was released by Pioneer LDC in the United Kingdom on 1994. As its popularity grew, it spurred a seventh episode titled Tenchi Muyo! Special: The Night Before the Carnival  and a stand-alone Mihoshi Special. The second OVA series was directed by Kenichi Yatani and released on 1994, featuring episodes 8–13. The third OVA series was also directed by Kenichi Yatani was released on 2003, featuring episodes 14-19 followed by a special twentieth episode.
A twenty-six episode TV anime series called Tenchi Universe was released on 1995 retelling and expanding upon the original six-episode story, documenting in an alternate timeline the adventures of the cast as well as changing the back stories of some characters. Tenchi in Tokyo is another alternate version, chronicling Tenchi Masaki's move to Tokyo. Additionally, there are spin-off series (such as Magical Girl Pretty Sammy, Tenchi Muyo! GXP,  ), as well as adapted into manga. The franchise has also spawned soundtrack CDs and other merchandise released both in Japan and in the United States.
 Movies:
An anime film titled Tenchi the Movie: Tenchi Muyo in Love created by Hiroshi Negishi is a continuation of the Tenchi Universe TV series. A film titled Tenchi the Movie 2: The Daughter of Darkness was created by Naoko Hasegawa. A third film titled Tenchi Forever! The Movie is the sequel to Tenchi Muyo in Love and was adapted into a manga titled Tenchi Muyo! In Love 2: Eternal Memory.
Manga:
The Tenchi manga consists of two series written by Hitoshi Okuda: Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-oh-ki and Shin Tenchi Muyo! (which has no connection to the aforementioned Shin Tenchi Muyo TV series). They have been released in English as No Need for Tenchi and The All-New Tenchi Muyo!. It is based on OVA series 1 and 2. Since the manga originally began in Japan before the release of OVA 2, the OVA 2 elements are not introduced immediately at the beginning.

(I was too lazy to reword that :P)

Genre: Adventure, Action, Fantasy, Harem

Summary:

Tenchi Muyo! follows the adventures of Tenchi Masaki, an ordinary teenager whose quiet life in the mountains of Okayama is shattered by the arrival of a diverse group of alien girls. Although having a bunch of beautiful women living at home might sound like no bad thing, Tenchi soon discovers the downside to this arrangement when the girls start using their special powers to fight for his affections!

A Certain Magical Index

A Certain Magical Index by Kazuma Kamachi and illustrated by Kiyotaka Haimura is a manga I'm sure I read before. Scrolling through FUNimation's channel on youtube.com I came across it and from just reading the summary I knew I did. It was interesting and I felt like I was opened to a different world (even though it similar to our own).

Genres: Action, Adventure, Fantasy, Sci- fi

Summary:

In a world where magic is as real as science, high-school student Kamijo comes to the aid of a young nun named Index. She's on the run from a magic society that covets the massive library of forbidden knowledge stored in her memory.

DearS

DearS by Banri Sendo and Shibuko Ebara (their pen name Peach-Pit) is funny as hell. I have only watched the anime but I can tell that there would be more of a plot in the manga. It is a kind of mature though, so all children have been warned.  I absolutely love the teacher in here too, as well as the beginning song lol.

Genres: Harem, Romance, Comedy, Sci-fi

Summary:

Exactly one year prior to the beginning of DearS, humanity made unprecedented contact with extraterrestrial life. Forced to crash land into Tokyo Bay when, en route to their home planet of Thanatos, their spacecraft breaks down, 150 humanoid aliens are naturalized into Japanese society and affectionately nicknamed "DearS"; a portmanteau of the words "Dear" and "Friends".

Takeya Ikuhara is a temperamental seventeen-year-old Japanese student attending the fictitious Koharu High School with a strong prejudice against the DearS. Due to a childhood scare, he believes that the aliens are fake, worthless beings that have generated nationwide overhype.

On his way home from school he discovers a homeless DearS who, after fainting and much to his annoyance, he feeds and shelters in his apartment. The girl, who he nicknames Ren, is infantile and friendly, and grows obsequious and dependent upon Takeya, a responsibility he tries to disassociate himself from. Her oblivious tenacity keeps her around, however, and over time, realizing Ren's genuine care and empathy for him, Takeya has a change of heart. Unfortunately, because Ren is deemed defective, DearS headquarters orders her arrested.

Serial Exerpiments Lain

Serial Experiments Lain is an anime series directed by Ryutaro Nakamura and produced by Triangle Staff.I grew up watching this show lol. I remember my older sister and I staying up really late to watch this when we had school the next day but never cared. Lain is an avant-garde anime first and foremost, however, so sometimes the meaning of subjects might be harder to understand.

P.S.
The anime series was licensed in North America by Geneon (formerly Pioneer Entertainment) on DVD, VHS and LaserDisc. However, Geneon closed its USA division in December 2007 and the series went out-of-print as a result. However, at Anime Expo 2010, North American distributor Funimation Entertainment announced that it has licensed the series and will be re-released in 2012. It was also released in Singapore by Odex. The video game, which shares only the themes and protagonist with the series, was never released outside Japan.

Watch Serial Experiments Lain on Youtube.com~!

Genre: Cyberpunk, Psychological thriller, Science fiction

Plot Summary:

Spoiler alert for readers whom have never seen Lain!

Serial Experiments Lain describes "the Wired" as the sum of human communication networks, created with the telegraph and telephone services, and expanded with the Internet and subsequent networks. The anime assumes that the Wired could be linked to a system that enables unconscious communication between people and machines without physical interface. The storyline introduces such a system with the Schumann resonance, a property of the Earth's magnetic field that theoretically allows for unhindered long distance communications. If such a link was created, the network would become equivalent to Reality as the general consensus of all perceptions and knowledge. The thin line between what is real and what is possible would then begin to blur.

Eiri Masami is introduced as the project director on Protocol 7 (the next generation internet protocol in the series' time frame) for major computer company Tachibana Labs. He has secretly included code of his own creation to give himself control of the Wired through the wireless system described above. He then "uploaded" his consciousness into the Wired and died in real life a few days after. These details are unveiled around the middle of the series, but this is the point where the story of Serial Experiments Lain begins. Masami later explains that Lain is the artifact by which the wall between the virtual and material worlds is to fall, and that he needs her to get to the Wired and "abandon the flesh", as he did, to achieve his plan. The series sees him trying to convince her through interventions, using the promise of unconditional love, charm, fate, and, when all else fails, threats and force.

In the meantime, the anime follows a complex game of hide-and-seek between the "Knights of the Eastern Calculus", hackers who Masami claims are "believers that enable him to be a God in the Wired", and Tachibana Labs, who try to regain control of Protocol 7. In the end, the viewer sees Lain realizing, after much introspection, that she has absolute power over everyone's mind and over reality itself. Her dialogue with different versions of herself show how she feels shunned from the material world, and how she is afraid to live in the Wired, where she has the possibilities and responsibilities of a goddess. The last scenes feature her erasing everything connected to herself from everyone's memories. She is last seen unchanged – re-encountering her old friend Alice, who is now married. Lain promises herself that she will look after Alice.

P.P.S
Fun Facts~

Apple Computers and Lain: Lain contains extensive references to Apple computers, as the brand was used at the time by most of the creative staff: writers, producers, and the graphical team. As an example, the title at the beginning of each episode is announced by the Apple Computer Speech synthesis program "PlainTalk", using the voice "Whisper". Tachibana Industries, the company that creates the NAVI computers, is a reference to Apple computers: "tachibana" means "Mandarin orange" in Japanese. NAVI is the abbreviation of Knowledge Navigator, and the HandiNAVI is based on the Apple Newton, one of the world's first PDAs.

Demon Diary

Demon Diary (Diary of the Demon King) by Lee Yun Hee, Lee Ji Hyong, and drawn by Kara Lim (Mangafox.com)  - Lee Chi-hyong (volume one), Lee Yun-hee (volume two through seven), and Kara ( the name of the duo team consisting of Kim Yoon-gyeong and Jeong Eun-sook) (Wiki) is, again, one of the first manga I collected. I loved everything about it ^^

:
A number of writers have worked with Kara on the production of Demon Diary. The story for volume 1 was written by Lee Chi-hyong. Lee stopped writing, because he had to prepare for the upcoming high school exams. The stories for volumes 2 through 7 were written by Lee Yun-hee.
: As said on Wikipedia.com

This was the first Shounen Ai manga I ever read and I have to say I wasn't even aware of it at the time - I think I was 12 years old and naive. I can't say too much about the main story though, I'm scared I'll ruin it for readers who haven't picked this good read up yet.

Genres: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Fantasy, Shoujo, Shounen Ai

Summary:

Gods and demons wage a never ending battle with the mortal realm as their battlefield. As with most longstanding feuds, the reasons are no longer important--hatred is a way of life. But it is foretold that one would arise who could restore harmony between gods and demons. Enter Raenef...heir to a set of demon royalty, he is hardly courtly material. The demon king assigns Eclipse to be his tutor, to mold Raenef into proper demonic shape. The two begin a journey of discovery and are soon joined by a human knight and a god-blessed priest.

Shinobi Life

Shinobi Life by Konami Shouko was definitely one of my favorite manga. I was completely in love with the time jumping story line and plot until I realized that months were passing and still I was waiting for Kagetora to find Beni... long story short (no pun intended...) I looked at it now thinking "hey, it should be over by now, I mean its been years since I last looked at that manga!" Nope. It's still ongoing on mangafox and Kagetora is still on the hunt for Beni. Sigh, it was indeed a good read though so if you haven't read Shinobi Life yet I think you should - just be ready to wait for updates if you don't intend to buy the series.

Genres: Comedy, Drama, Fantasy, Historical, Martial Arts, Romance, School Life, Shoujo, Supernatural, and Tragedy.

Summary:

Many, many years ago, a ninja named Kagetora devoted his life to protecting Princess Beni. Unfortunately, they were attacked and Kagetora was flung into a lake, and sank to the bottom… And is somehow warped to the future where he sees the princess Beni being kidnapped. Little does Kagetora know that Beni is not the real princess, but rather her descendant. Beni, on the other hand, thought that Kagetora was just a cosplayer. Beni, the daughter of a rich man has already been kidnapped a hundred times already... But fear not because Kagetora is here. Will Kagetora be able to go back to the past, or will he remain by Beni’s side forever?

Akuma to love song

Akuma to love song by Tomori Miyoshi is cutely drawn and a good read. I haven't read this manga in a while either but I do remember enjoying it - in the beginning. Somehow or another it started changing into something I wasn't in the mood for at the time but now that I'm coming across all these oldies I might take another peek and see what really happened (aka - was it me or the manga).

Genres: Comedy, Drama, Psychological, Romance, School life, Shoujo

Touzuka High School is a public school with a very low grade point average. One day, a girl, who had been expelled from the state's top school, St. Katria Girls' School, transfers in...Her name is Kawai Maria. Power!!

Power!! (or Girl Got Game) by Seino Shizuru is too funny for words. This manga was released in 1999 and as I've stated before has an older style to it but I still enjoy it~ The only thing I have to say about it negatively is that she's on the basketball team and only plays against outside teams once with the school! Oh well, it is a good read and if you're looking for a LMAO moment, then here it is ^^

Genres: Comedy, Drama, Gender Bender, Romance, Shoujo, Slice of life, Sports

To make matters worse, she has to stay in the boys' dorms, and her roommate is the same boy she came to hate at tryouts.

Wish

Wish by Clamp has to be one the cutest manga I have ever read. It, too, is one of the first manga I began collecting and finished. Wish was also released in the 1990's lol (1996 to be exact), yep I'm pulling out a lot of oldies~! As such you can see the drawing style has an older flare but its clamp for crying out loud, it looks awesome~

He rescues Kohaku and, in return, Kohaku offers to grant him a wish. However, Shuichiro is satisfied with his life - he has a decent home, good looks, and a well-paying job as a doctor - so he does not request anything. As Kohaku is honour-bound to grant the wish, she chooses to stay with him in his home, and helps with chores.

Hands Off!

Hands Off! By Katsumoto Kasane is one of the first manga I started collecting - and actually finished. It was completely new to me at the time; the plot, characters - I loved it! I still love to go back and read it sometimes, I believe it helps give me inspiration to write lol. I also believe it might have been the first (small) step I took towards Yaoi - although it is not in this manga series at all which might in fact be a good thing (-_-) ...

Genres: Comedy, Drama, Psychological, School life, Sci-fi, Shoujo, Tragedy

Summary:

Kotarou Oohira is a boy with the clueless touch--he has an unusual type of ESP that is transmitted via physical contact. When he accidentally gives his cousin Tatsuki the "gift", he comes to realize that there is much more to his powers than he ever imagined!

Candidate for Goddess

Candidate for Goddess by Sugisaki Yukiru is one of those mangas that whenever I get to the last chapter and realize it was dropped by the author I cry my eyes out TT-TT. This in fact might be one of the reasons why I stopped reading D.N. Angel (but that was a pretty good manga as well - just a bit cliché); later learning that it was the reason behind Candidate for Goddess' early end. Even with no real ending in sight this manga was a good read and I reread it often only to cry once more when I get to the last chapter. I hope one day Sugisaki Yukiru will finish it... but I doubt it.

Genres: Action, Adventure, Drama, Mecha, Sci-fi, Seinen

Summary:

It is the year 4088. It has been over one thousand years since the Crisis of Systems (Lost Property), which resulted in the destruction of four planetary systems, leaving only a single inhabitable planet, Zion. Mankind is forced to live in space colonies, since that one planet is constantly being invaded by alien life forms that have come to be known as Victim.

To stop the aliens and to allow people to land on Zion, mankind has developed the astronomical humanoid weapons, Ingrids, also known as Goddesses. G.O.A. (Goddess Operation Academy) is a school dedicated to the training of young men to pilot these Ingrids ...

Please do not forget this manga was indeed dropped*

Madness

Madness by Shinmotsuki Kairi I think was one of my first yoai mangas. It was sometimes confusing and at first I didn't know Izaya was a man lol but it was good all the same. This story only has two books to it, which for manga is really short, but I liked it anyway ^^

Genre: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Fantasy, Romance, Shounen Ai, Supernatural, and Yaoi.

Summary:

It is the year 3000 AD and Airishuu Izaya Luke is a Catholic priest of the Cult of Saint Ruka. He was charged with watching over Kyou, the leader of a group of murderers called Madness. Kyou has spent the past 3 years imprisoned in Izaya's church, with no memory of his murderous nature. Kyou's life has become a tranquil one until the day the church is attacked by an old enemy, Sae, a former member of Madness, who is attempting to take Kyou's demon sword Jigfreed. Kyou's murderous nature is awakened and he proceeds to kill Sae. He then goes to keep on killing, but Izaya stops him. As it turns out, Izaya is a Suppressor, someone who can stop Kyou when he snaps and goes crazy. Kyou forcefully takes Izaya with him to be his Suppressor and so begins there journey...

I would consider this manga for mature readers only

Update: Deadman Wonderland

So, as I was looking through FUNimation's Youtube.com channel a few days ago and I spotted Deadman Wonderland right there with a SUB attached to it~ I have only watched a little into episode one because I don't seem to have the time nowadays but I will eventually - if only to compare the two.

Here is the link: Watch Deadman Wonderland on Youtube.com here~!  ^^

Mobile Manga Reading

Travel a lot? Want to read your favorite mangas on the road but don't want to carry the whole entire series with you? Then, if you don't already now about it, let me tell you something awesome~ Mangafox.com actually has a mobile version to there website located at the bottom of the page in tiny print.
I am not sure if other sites are doing it too but in my opinion they should; get with the times! This mobile version works great on my phone, not a lot of ads that take over the screen and such but sometimes the print is too small for me to make out which pisses me off. I know its not mangafox but the groups who are posting these chapters up to blame - and at the same time I love them because if it wasn't for them there wouldn't be such a thing as online manga reading. ::Sigh::
Anyway, the site itself is mangafox.mobi/ and I hope this has help and/or made you as happy as I am with its discovery~

Ryuu Wa Tasogare no Yume o Miru

Ryuu Wa Tasogare no Yume o Miru (The Dragon Dreams of Twilight) by Himekawa Akira was an interesting read that I can't wait to see more of; sadly I could only find up to chapter three everywhere I looked so if anyone spots chapter four please, please leave a link for us all.

Genres: action, adventure, drama, fantasy, mystery, sci-fi, shounen, supernatural, tragedy

Summary:

Hirasawa was the scientist in charge of a special lab specimen that was a fusion between dragon and human DNA, dubbed the "Archetype". But when he escapes the secret organization "Ilumine" which was employing him, taking his daughter Koyomi with him as he goes into hiding, Ilumine vows to track him down and retrieve the Archetype.

T.J. is a professional "trapper" for Ilumine, and his job is to track down and destroy the monsters known as "Dicapay" that are wreaking havoc all over the world. The organization orders him to visit Hirasawa's island hideout and bring the specimen - now a partially matured Archetype named Kiya whose outward appearance is that of an adolescent boy - back to them.

I read the three chapters I could only find on Mangafox.com but as I was searching up chapter four (and came up empty handed) I noted that this manga was on a lot of different manga sites.

Yay to over 2,000 views~!! Thank you guys so much, it really makes me want to make as many new post as I can ^^

Lately I have been slowing down on the manga and watching more anime or reading fanfics (which I was playing with the idea of starting a blog for that as well - we'll see~) while trying to get some much needed work done. But worry not, manga is still the love of my life lol. I actually just finished reading a new one - or new to me - that I found while searching up information for a new story idea and will post it up here in no time.

On a different note, isn't it awful that FUNimation will no longer be available on Fios? I don't know what to do with myself! Yes, I watched a lot of it on Youtube.com but I will miss it on my tv (~_~) I think the letter I got in the mail said it will stop airing on 3/15/12... so sad TT~TT

Okay, enough tears. Thank you viewers again~! See you in the next post ^^

Desire Climax

Desire Climax (Yokujo Climax) by Ayane Ukyo is probably one of the first mature mangas I have read and this was years ago when I had no business reading this lol ::blush:: but it's one I can't forget. I remember sitting on the edge of my sit, wondering what the hell was going to happen next >.< This twisting plot had me fall in love with dark themed romances. If you haven't read this one yet, I think you should~

Uh, I read this manga (as I said before) many years ago on Onemanga.com. You may be able to find it on Mangafox.com but I am not sure. I am going to buy the series myself because I loved it so much ^^

The next day her mother tells Mio that their landlord, who happens to be among her father's closest friends, has offered her a job as a maid at their mansion. Eager to help the family, he feels that it will be safer at night that way, and her mother agrees to this despite her daughter's opposition. Haganai

Haganai (or Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunaiby Yomi Hirasaka and drawn by Buriki was an awesome comedy to brighten up my day. The characters felt different to me and the ending didn't change the whole story either. All in all I loved it.

Genre: Romance, Comedy

Summary:

Kodaka Hasegawa is a recent transfer student to St. Chronica's Academy, a Catholic high school. As with every other school he has ever attended, he finds it difficult to make friends there because of his naturally-blond hair (inherited from his deceased English mother) and fierce-looking eyes, which make him look threatening to his prejudiced schoolmates.

One day, Kodaka accidentally comes across the equally solitary and very abrasive Yozora Mikazuki while she converses with her imaginary friend Tomo. Realizing that neither of them have any social lives, they decide that the best way to improve their situation is to form a club–the Neighbor's Club precisely intended to make friends and learn social skills.

Five other members soon join the club, starting with the school's well-connected but arrogant idol Sena Kashiwazaki, who has no female friends of her own because of their jealousy over her many male admirers. The next to join is Yukimura Kusunoki, a feminine underclassman of Kodaka's who rather idealizes him and follows him in the hope that it will teach him to become manlier. Maria Takayama is a 10-year-old "genius" teacher and nun at the academy whom Yozora recruits to become the club adviser. Rika Shiguma is an underclassman and well-known scientific genius with fujoshi tendencies who joins the club after Kodaka rescues her from a laboratory accident. Finally, Kodaka's younger sister Kobato is in St. Chronica's middle school division and is a fan of Gothic anime.

As you may have noticed lately I have been watching a lot more anime then reading manga only because I'm taking a break. Nothing really more then that...

Anywho, you can watch the show on youtube.com  here ---> Haganai~

And I can't thank FUNimation enough for putting these cute shows on youtube ^^
