The Bride of the Water God

The Bride of the Water God by Yun Mi-kyung is a twisting story line with beautiful art work. I was drawn in with the first page I saw (T-T) In a way, this manhwa (or manga in South Korea) actually remembered me of Inuyasha (Another Manga I will post in the future). This manga is a must have for your manga collection~
I found it on AnimeA.net

Genres: Drama, Fantasy, Historical, Romance, Shoujo, and Supernatural

Summary:
When Soah's impoverished, desperate village decides to sacrifice her to the Water God Habaek to end a long drought, they believe that drowning one beautiful girl will save their entire community and bring much-needed rain. Not only is Soah surprised to be rescued by the Water God-instead of killed-she never imagined she'd be a welcomed guest in Habaek's magical kingdom, where an exciting new life awaits her! Most surprising, however, is the Water God himself... and how very different he is from the monster Soah imagined.

Wolf Guy - Emblem of the Wolf

Wolf Guy- Emblem of the wolf (Wolf guy - Ookami no Monshou) by Tabata Yoshiaki and drawn by Yugo Yuuki (same mangaka team as Akumetsu ^--^)  had me holding my breath from the very beginning. I love the main character, Akira Inugami, and my heart strings diffidently pulled for him; his life is so hard :'(
The drawing style grew on me but I still think the students look absolutely nothing like Junior high schoolers should...

You can read this manga on a number of the sites I have listed on the side but I have seen it in bookstores so buy a copy for your manga collection~

This manga is for mature readers only! (Can't stress that enough)

Genres: Action, Fantasy, Mature, Psychological, Romance, School life, Seinen, and Supernatural.

Summary:
Ms. Aoshika is not only divorced, but an underappreciated teacher at her job. But one drunken mishap leads her to witness firsthand the brutal assault and murder of a young man. However, after fainting, she awakens to discover that all of the assailants have been seriously wounded.

And to her further surprise, the next day she discovers that not only is the young man Akira she met the night before alive, but he is now her new transfer student.

Akumetsu

Akumetsu by Tabata  Yoshiaki and drawn by Yogo Yuuki was a great story! One of my favorite mangas of all times but, sadly, the ending left me feeling a little disappointed -_-  If I say anymore it will completely give it away so you will just have to read to find out ^--^  Although I will say that there is a lot of blood and gore in this manga that may be too much for some readers.

Genres include: Action, Comedy, Drama, Mature, Psychological, Sci-fi, Shounen, and Tragedy.

Summary:
Nagasawa Shiina is just an average 3rd year high school student until her parents' company goes bankrupt. In order to pay the bills, her family sells her into prostitution. At her first job, a mysterious masked man crashes the party... and it's someone she knows. Akumetsu is the story of Hazama Shou, who defends his own view of justice in a vigilante manner while wearing a mask and calling himself Akumetsu.

This manga can be found on some of the manga sites I have listed on the side but this is a good manga to have in your library so buy a copy~

Boku No Hatsukoi wo Kimi Ni Sasagu

Boku No Hatsukoi wo Kimi Ni Sasagu (I give my first love to you) by Aoki Kotomi is a touching love story that had me crying like a baby one moment and laughing the next. This story hit a little close to home, being sickly myself, and had me hoping for the lead character (Takuma) to pull though. At times it can seem a little on the dark side too.

Genres include: Drama, Romance, School life, Shoujo, and Tragedy.

Summary:
(from Tenshi-Tachi) Takuma and Mayu's story began when they were only 8 years old. During his childhood, Takuma was constantly hospitalised due to his heart condition. He soon became friends with Mayu, the daughter of the doctor in charge of his case. Day by day they grew closer and closer. However, the summer when Takuma was 8, he made a promise to Mayu that he couldn't keep... Their story unfolds as they grow older and their bond gets stronger...

I've heard this manga was made into a movie but its not an anime. I haven't seen it yet myself but if you have please let me know how it was compared to the movie.

You can read this manga on a number of sites ( I have some listed on the side of my blog).  Please buy a copy for your manga collection ^--^

Naruto / Bleach

Of course I couldn't have a blog like this and not have Naruto or Bleach on it. Two of the most popular mangas out right now, and for good reason. They both have animes, however, I prefer the mangas. Both are on almost all of the manga sites online though I will list below a few.

These mangas are sold in almost every bookstore so there is no excuse not to buy it and available online to purchase as well.

Summary (Naruto by Kishimoto Masashi):
Genres- Action, Adventure, Comedy, Martial arts, Shounen, and Supernatural.

In another world, ninja are the ultimate power–and in the village of Konoha live the stealthiest ninja in the world. But sixteen years ago Konohagakure was attacked by a fearsome threat–a nine-tailed fox demon which claimed the life of the Hokage, the village champion. Today, peace has returned, and a trouble making orphan named Uzumaki Naruto is struggling to graduate from the Ninja Academy. His goal: to become the next Hokage. But unknown to Naruto and his classmates, within him is a terrifying force . . . The Nine-tail fox...

Summary (Bleach by Kubo Tite):
Genres- Action, Adventure, comedy, Drama, Fantasy, Shounen, Supernatural
Ichigo Kurosaki has always been able to see ghosts, but this ability doesn't change his life nearly as much as his close encounter with Rukia Kuchiki, a Shinigami and member of the mysterious Soul Society.

While fighting a Hollow, an evil spirit that preys on humans who display psychic energy, Rukia attempts to lend Ichigo some of her powers so that he can save his family; but much to her surprise, Ichigo absorbs every last drop of her energy.

Now a full-fledged Shinigami himself, Ichigo quickly learns that the world he inhabits is one full of dangerous spirits and, along with Rukia, it's Ichigo's job to protect the innocent from Hollows and help the spirits themselves find peace.

Both Mangas can be found on Mangafox.com and AnimaA.net but please buy a copy

Anatolia Story

Anatolia Story (Red River) by Shinohara Chie is an older manga but that doesn't mean anything at all. Its great plot and character building will really pull you in. Genres are Action, Adventure, Drama, Fantasy, Historical, Mature, Romance, Shoujo, and Supernatural.

I'll just say flat out that I'm a sucker for time travel stories, whether good or bad I will read them to see where they are going. I didn't have to worry with this one; this manga was great!

Summary:
Yuri lived the peaceful, average teenage life until Queen Nakia drew Yuri across time and space into the ancient Hittite Empire to use her as a sacrifice! Yuri meets many different friends throughout her journey to find a way home, but when the season of the North Star comes, enabling Prince Kail to send Yuri home, can she make it back, or have her growing feelings for Kail become too much? Check out Anatolia Story to find out!

On a sad note, this manga has been uploaded and removed from almost all the manga sites I do look at before buying the book. But I see it is on Manga2U.com and Mangareader.net; for how long, who knows...
However, as always, I recommend this for your manga collection. I have seen it in many bookstores and on Amazon.com.

Kinyo Sou

Kingyo Sou (Silent Love Song) by Fujitsuka Yuki is by far my number one Shoujo manga. I can't get enough of this manga and reread it often. Its genres are Drama, Romance, School Life, Shoujo. When I found this manga I was looking for a different story because it felt like every shoujo manga was getting to be the same plot. This story definitely different.

Summary:
(by tako-chan) During springtime in their second year of high school, Asuka fell in love with Masami after seeing him play the Harmony Drums during the festival. However, Masami is deaf, and in his own soundless world, he has closed his heart. With this, their miraculous but painful love quietly begins.

You can read this manga on Mangafox.com, though I recommend buying it because your going to want to reread it over and over again :]

Immortal Rain

Immortal Rain by Ozaki Kaori was a mixture of emotions for me (in a great way). It's genres are Action, Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Fantasy, Romance, Sci-Fi, Shoujo, Supernatural, and Tragedy. This manga had me laughing, crying, sitting on the edge of my sit and everything in between! A site will be listed below.

Summary:
(from Tokyopop) Rain Jewlitt, known as the Methuselah, is a spaced-out, immortal, 624-year-old man dressed in priest's clothes. He's got eternal youth and a large price on his head ... put there by those questing after the secret of his immortality.

Machika Balfaltin is a tomboyish, energetic 14-year-old girl who, upon the death of her grandfather, sets out to kill Methuselah, the one bounty her assassin grandfather, Zol the Grim Reaper, couldn't kill. Instead, however, Machika ends up being saved by Rain again and again from other aspiring bounty hunters attacking them both.

Sound like the beginnings of an odd relationship? You won't believe where their journey takes them ...

This manga can be read on Mangafox.com but I suggest buying a copy from a bookstore. If anyone  has seen it available online for purchase please inform us all :)

Switch

Switch by Naked Ape was one manga that really had me excited. I couldn't get enough of it! It's genres are action, comedy, drama, mature, mystery, and psychological. Switch was another manga I started reading years ago and was removed from the manga site :'(  I actually just found it again online and the site will be listed below.

Summary:
(From VIZ) Kai Eto may look like a squeaky clean kid, but the Greater Kanto Narcotics Control Division's new investigator hides a violent alter ego and a dangerous past. With his stoic partner Hal Kurabayashi, Kai is assigned to track down and stop the distribution of Dragon Speed, a dangerous new drug. But Ryugen, the syndicate trafficking the drug, is almost impossible to infiltrate. Add street violence and a jurisdiction war with the Meguro Police, and poor Kai is in for some very long days at the office.

This manga was made into a short anime consisting of two OVAs, I believe you can watch these on Youtube.com.

You can read this on Mangareader.net but I recommend buying it for you collection ;)

I have seen all thirteen volumes on Amazon.com, but also in bookstores.

Crimson Spell

Crimson spell by Yamane Ayano is definitely one of my favorite yaoi mangas. It's genres are comedy, romance, supernatural, and of course yaoi love (which might be a little too much for some readers). I had started reading this manga years ago online only to have it taken off the site a week afterward- and it wasn't completed! But thankfully I found it a couple months later on another site which will be listed below.

Summary:
In order to protect his people from attacking demons, Prince Val uses a demonic sword and curses himself in the process. He leaves his kingdom to find a cure, and his search leads him to Hallwil, the person rumored to be the only one who knows how to break the curse. Hallwil agrees to help Val... for a price.

You can find this manga on AnimeA.net but I recommend buying a copy for your manga collection, you won't be disappointed <3
You can buy this book on Amazon.com
